Here at The Sofa Company, the main interior structure of our sofas are built with solid wood frames and metal springs. The use of metal springs creates better weight distribution, evenly supportive furniture, and exponentially greater longevity for the overall construction of the piece. Joints are reinforced with a variety of industry-trusted methods including corner blocks, glue, & staples; dependent on the shape and function of the individual joint.
In addition, The Sofa Company offers several customizable construction options for our furniture:
|
OPTION A: Pine + Sinuous S Springs
Solid kiln-dried pine sofas are warranted for one year against bowing, cracking, and popping. Also known as ‘no sag’springs, ‘zig zag’ springs, and ‘s coils’, sinuous s springs are long pieces of heavy-gauge steel wire that weave back and forth in an even S shape. They are evenly spaced and attached from front to back of the frames to provide reinforcement to the frame, weight distribution, and support to the sitter. |

OPTION B: Alder + Sinuous S Springs
Solid kiln-dried alder is a naturally harder and heavier wood. Alder-framed furniture feels more stable due to the added weight of the hardwood, a big bonus especially to furniture that will be free-standing as it will not slide as readily during use. We guarantee our alder frames for the lifetime of the product. |

|
OPTION C: Alder + 8 Way Hand Tied Springs
Eight Way Hand Tied Springs, a much older, ‘traditional’ way of constructing the decks (underneath the seating area) of furniture utilizes individual coil springs hand-tied to one another in eight different directions. This age-honored method of furniture construction ensures unrivaled quality, comfort, and longevity. Eight-way hand tied furniture provides exceptionally even support and a more durable build overall. |
