What makes a quality piece of furniture? Stability, longevity, and support. What provides stability, longevity, and support? We will give you a hint .... 1 Spring, 2 Spring, 3 Spring ....?
Why Springs? - Building it “like they used to”
The Sofa Company uses high quality, heavy-gauge metal springs in all of our furniture. And we don’t skimp on your seat, either. To ensure that every piece of furniture yields even, long-lasting support under conditions of even the most frequent use, we evenly space our ‘no sag’ sinuous S springs (the most economical option for high-end furnishings) no more than 5” apart (14 springs in a standard size sofa).
Cheaper furniture is made with fewer, lighter-gauge springs which will provide only a fraction of the comfortable seating time in a sofa or chair. Some lower-end manufacturers don’t use any springs at all... instead supporting the cushions of a sofa with straps or webbing, which can sag or tear out in as little time as a year. Ouch! | | | |
Options in Quality
For a traditionally-constructed piece of furniture with an even more stable and supportive seat, turn to the time-tried Eight Way Hand Tied method of spring construction. Each heavy-duty coil spring is tied (by hand!) in a web with eight knots per spring so that they all work in concert to relieve stress on critical points in the frame, all while giving you even, comfortable support.
Get to know your sofa!
You wouldn’t bu y a car without knowing how many cylinders are in the engine. You wouldn’t buy a computer without knowing how much the hard drive would hold. Why would you buy a sofa without knowing how many springs it had?
