Jeff Griffith Youth Center

At the Jeff Griffith Youth Center we offer free breakfast and lunch, showers, clothing, laundry facilities, a cyber center, counseling and social activities as well as free testing for HIV and other STDs. We also offer a program to help you get the equivalency of a high school diploma (GED) and/or a job. If you are 18-24 years old, without a place to live but ready to make a commitment to getting off the streets, we have a 20-bed transitional living program in Hollywood where you may be able to stay for up to 18 months. With dorm style rooms, a cyber center, a recreation room, and three meals a day, it offers everything you need while staff help you land a job and/or get you into school. We’ll also work with you to develop the skills and resources you’ll need to successfully make it on your own.

The Jeff Griffith Youth Center has always has always been close to my heart because they create an atmosphere where our homeless gay, lesbian, bi sexual and transgender youth feel like they have a family that cares about them and wants to see them succeed. The wonderful warm and caring staff at the JGYC provides these kids with the necessary tools (like case management, counseling, a GED preparation program, and a job skills program) to get their lives back on track and one day have a home of their own. When it came time for me to select my charity, they were hands down my choice. The work that they do is truly inspiring, and giving them a much needed new sectional for one of the meeting rooms is my way of saying thank you, and letting them know that I appreciate the commitment, love and dedication that they have shown to the often overlooked and vulnerable LGBT kids in our community.
